    Where to get Base Rock?

    I-Tech Protein Skimmer

I think those I-Tech cones looks great. And Mark, they do offer one with the a Sicce so I'm not sure where you are getting your info from. I was on the list for one but came across an ATB before I made the order. John is a great guy though and I wouldn't hesitate to get one.

My 90G starphire/rimless cube build thread

Sorry for the slow updates guys. I started my MBA this quarter and have been crazy busy with full-time school/work and haven't been on the board much. Thanks Joel! The tank turned our really well and I'm very happy with it. Awesome job making the tank. PM Joel "LiquidFunk" as he is the one...

    WOOD for stand?

I think you can easily get away with 2x4's for the supports and 2x6's for the 60" long pieces. I would rather build a stand that is plenty strong and easy/light enough to move around when setting the tank up. I hate to refer you over to another board but this is an EXCELLENT thread for building...

    WOOD for stand?

What size tank are you using them for? 4x4"s seems like extreme overkill unless you are doing a very large tank. I used 1/4's for my 90G. And I don't think there are any chemicals in pressure treated wood as of the last few years.

Removing center brace on 46 bowfront

I removed the center brace on my 65G and replaced it with a piece of acrylic and weld-on #16. Held for years without any issues.

My 90G starphire/rimless cube build thread

Some coral shots as well: Hammer: Slightly deflated brain after I moved it: I broke up my massive frogspawn to make some more room, I had to piece a few heads though: This piece was nearly all white when I got it and now some green/purple is starting to show through. Some more random SPS...

My 90G starphire/rimless cube build thread

This wouldn't much of a thread without some more livestock shots. I love the Anthias, very colorful/active fish and have gained some weight since I got them. They love the camera as well. older shot Probably my favorite fish in the tank: The quintessential "clownfish in the anemone"...

My 90G starphire/rimless cube build thread

I run the Vortech's at about ~50% in the reef crest mode. Running them at full throttle would be too much flow. And I really like running them on the back wall though. There is an amazing amount of undertow that goes along the sand bed which keeps everything nice and clean. I even had a few...

    Curing dry rock?

Yep, that was me. I used ~70 pounds of dry rock (so I could aquascape outside of the tank) and added about 25 pounds of existing rock to seed everything (~15 pounds in the sump). The new rock wasn't "cured" nor was the foam wall. I figured it wouldn't be a big deal to transfer my livestock right...

    Holidays pics...

Wow, your tank is full of great looking stuff! Sooo many photo ops in there. Great shots as well.

My 90G starphire/rimless cube build thread

I figure it's about time for an update, I'll see about getting some pics up tomorrow. The Vortech's seem to be doing great on the back wall though, no complaints from me. The flow is great, I can't hear them running, and I have no wires going over the rim of the tank. I'll post more tomorrow.

    BTA question!

Sounds like a normal BTA to me. Off topic, is the period on your keyboard replaced with a !!!?

tank installation - best way to set and level on wood floors

I used wood shims for my 90G to level everything out. I kept my 65G on wood floors for years without any adjustable feet or anything (wood stand straight onto flooring) and I never had any issues with water damage once I moved the tank for the 90G to go in (I had some good spills as well). You...
