    Flatworm Destruction!!!

Since I have experience on both sides of this fence I think it should be both the Individual and the Store. If known the Store should make it aware to the customer of any problems it has noticed of the item it is selling or what problems may exist in their selling tanks. The customer should...

White tiny critters on glass Help?

Those are usually result in to much food in the tank. I have had problems in some of my Seahorse setups trying to get them to eat prepared foods. If you cut back on the food source they will usually deplete them selves out of food. They are kind of like a floating aptasia and can sting things...

White tiny critters on glass Help?

So what size tank? What is in the tank? What are you feeding the tank? How often are you feeding the tank? :)

    calcium reactor

Don't use Vaseline, it is a petroleum product. They make a product for O rings and rubber parts called I believe it is Plumbers Grease, which I believe is not a petroleum product and is designed for plumbing. Also on a quick note the O ring or gasket is designed to fill the void so water does...

    calcium reactor

Hey Matt take the old one out to Brown Bearing Supply on E Trent just before Broadway, They carry a lot of O rings and such. If you pinch those putting the lid on they almost always leak. Buy a couple and keep them in a ziploc to help keep them from drying out. Merry Christmas Vince

    loss of water?

I would top off more often. As your level drops your splash increases which evaporates more water.

    Swifty's 265 gal

I have heard many a nasty stories about Sally Crabs. I have had Damsels to Triggers drop sand, small pebbles, to good sized rocks on Corals and Clams. Sometimes I have had to move the Coral or Clam away from the Fishes "territory" to stop the dumping. Usually there is no harm done and I have...

    Another dead diamond sifter

The crabs I am speaking of are not the nice ones. They come in on live rock as little hitchhikers that you usually don't see. I have found them hiding in rocks where they cover their hole with smaller rocks when they are in and move the rocks to come out at night to feed. Now that I mention...

    sand rinse

I agree with ReefLogic, fresh water does not hurt anything unless it is soaked for a long period of time. Anything that is lost was probably not that healthy, only the strong survive, what survives will restart and thrive in the freshly rinsed sand. Even the pod population should explode...

    Another dead diamond sifter

Very nice.....Well sometimes things just die :( I have also heard from one of my information guys (supplier) that sometimes the fish is caught in deeper water and it is not acclimated, brought to the surface properly and this damages the fish, like the bends on people, and the fish is actually...

    What's your background?

I personally have done painted and the tape on. My favorite is vinyl that you get from the sign shop. It can be almost any color you like. It applys very easy. No drips, no runs, no flaking.

    Another dead diamond sifter

I am sorry I came across kinda of gruff. I had a LFS for about 5 years but had to shut down because of the economy. I worked very hard to provide a qaulity product for my customers. But as you said this does not help in the current problem. There are a lot of territory issue in saltwater...

    Cheap Wavemaker

A buddy of mine had this thing on the back of his tank it looked like a octopus. It had a rotating valve that would turn inside and have rotating flow from different outlets. I will give him a call at work tomorrow and see what it was called. Maybe someone out there knows what I am talking about.

URGENT! Question with Fed Ex Ship Delay

Holidays are bad for shipping with all the extra packages. Should be fine, FedEx should also back thier delivery times if there is a problem. Have a camera handy, don't open until you get home or what heat is left will escape, unless FedEx wants you to open for insurance purposes.

    Jesse's 40B with 20L sump

Clay works well for a water dam for drilling and vinyl from a sign shop is quiker and IMO looks better, no flaking or peeling. Talk at ya soon. Vince

Not to rain on your parade but, You have the people that actually catch the fish, like Les, Now, He is supposed to hold the fish in quarintine to treat a freshly caught fish for parasites. Then it is passed on to a wholesaler who is supposed to do the same thing of treating and holding the...

    sand rinse

The stuff in your tap water will not hurt anything. It keeps us alive :) Sometimes tap water will have more impurities and contaminates in it. This is why you use the RODI water, this process removes these impurities and contaminates depending on the filters you put in it. A new system setup...
