    HI everyone! :) i Need your help with my overflow...

    you could drill for a closed loop though... so it goes from the tank to a pump and back to the tank. very efficient design since the pump doesn't have to worry about head pressure

    R/O Installation

    can come out pretty slow... warmer water goes through faster and one can purchase a booster pump it up the pressure and it'll be more effective and faster. is your a 25 GPD unit then? if it is then it would be more of a drip. and welcome to reeffrontiers

    you could get some 12V halagon bulbs to that are 6500K to grow algae... I might have some somewhere. the annoying part will be sourcing a transformer...

    The Nitrite and Nitrate levels won't change in the bowl, b/c after feeding time you put the coral in the tank and the water from the bowl down the drain. it takes a while for bacteria to break down food into Nitrite and then Nitrate.

    mid-forties mixed. the EPA says it should get 42 city and 48 highway. although once we did 620 miles in one tank. we normally do 500-550 per tank (12-13 gal.) is your parent's diesel a non-turbo? we have a 2000 TDI Jetta (205k mi on the clock) and the DI is for Direct Injection... we need to get...

    what's a skimmer? hehe j/k i like the first one that seattle989 said, but you should also check out reefvideos.com there is a good (well they are all good) one called sump concepts. he goes stright from the overflow to the skimmer then the fuge... I think there is more than one to clean a tank...

    I've used water bottles with warm-hot water in them. they don't last as long, but since you will be with it you can warm up the water again... but i'm cheap like that ;)

    CC125, could you use a rummbermaid tud as a sump and put a fish or two in it. I'm sure someone has an overflow around you for cheap or something...

    34 mpg is pretty good for a gas powered car.... my diesel gets mid-forty's... :D (don't ask about my wife's car :( )
