    too much stuff

some for stuff for free, some stuff for cheap. I have loads of random HOT filters in various working order. i think i have 4 of the same skimmer that some one could make 1 or 2 work. (I was never a skimmer fan) I know I have a 10 gal tank, a 55gal and stand. (light wood color) and a 90 gal that...

    Wireless Reef tank

y not just have a header tank and a sump... have an overflow go from the header tank into the display (could use more than one drain and/or SCWDs) then from the display overflow into the sump w/ the heater and fans or a chiller... GOTO: "http://thesea.org/" and look at the DIY wave makers and...

you can get yer tank to live on 6500 K CFLs... it isn't something i would do forever, but if you nuke yer light it'll get you by for quite some time... i used them, some emergency solar blanket (Al + mylar), hot glue, milk cartons, and those ceramic fixtrues for a buck each... i wish i could...

you should use "F4" tape one the ends of the ballast. It goes by names like "extreme tape" or "rescue tape." it is 100% silicone and only sticks to itself. it is good for just about everything! I've seen at Harbor Freight sometimes...

    Bidding war

it is not like the seller is going to say, "$1,000 is all that i'll take and not a penny more." but i think it is about making the tank look nice and try not to go broke by trading and selling coral.

    Dossing lime water.

the the richmond RC fourm someone used vinegar + water + Mrs. Wages for top up water. I can't remember why they said they liked it, but it made some sense. does it work just like "purple up" and stuff like it (i.e. not very well) or does it really work better at getting more Ca in the tank where...

    Alternatives to Protein Skimmers

some elements are surfactants, and get can skimmed. I've heared of it a couple of times. Once i thought was at a SRS meeting. 90 gal on 24th if i remember right. someone there did the recommend dosage of it. x # of sprays of the trace elements, and their skimmer went "nuts" so know they do .5 as...

    zoa problems - solved????

i'm just jumping in and haven't read the whole thing yet, but... talk to atlantic sea farms, Jim has this stuff that is used to de-worm sheep. he says it is "reef-safe" and works great to take out flatworms... he sells it for $1 a pill, i can't remember the "dosage" for a take, but it shouldn't...

    Alternatives to Protein Skimmers

i don't use a skimmer. i don't have tons of fish in my tank. i use a 'fuge. i think a skimmer is just one more thing to go wrong (too many bubbles will makes some overflow and you get sw and the floor) and they cost $$ (and i'd rather have more coral.) i also think they can take out too much...

    Live Rock w/ algea question

i agree w/ the last two about keeping it in salt. deepening on your DIY skills you could put it in a light less bin (w/ circulating SW) and have a header tank w/ cheato and maybe a SSB since this won't last long... that way you wouldn't need a skimmer and might not have to do many wc's...

    Koralia Issues

you should have an option to keep the car. they will pay you for the value of the car before the wreck, and you pay them for the value after the wreck, what they would get at an auction for it... if you fix it yourself it might not be tooooo pricey...
