Had a short day at work today. I was able to do a leak/flow test on the tank.
I dropped a Mag 7 in the back chamber.

Now that I have shown you mine. Do I get to see yours??? LOL

I centered this whilly-jig in the center of the tank.

The blue tips have holes drilled in one side. The tips also rotate 360 deg. I am able to point them at the bottom , or top of the tank. Or anywhere in between.
It spins around about once a second.

I will have to get my son to to the video. He is not around much these days. So no promises on this end.
After I get it all set up I may be able to get Eric to shoot one.
It is nothing amazing to watch. LOL But the flow pattern is awesome. NO DEAD SPOTS!!!

This little whirly-jig was sent to me be a fellow reefer.

Is the entire part custom or are just the blue tips something added to make it spin? It looks like it could have been a sprinkler head or something used for the rotating portion.

That is so cool peppie a frag tank with vortex flow:) Enjoy my friend........ remember to keep information/research data>:typing:

I like the mag 7.5 good flow, the way you did that.....nice.

Your ready to rock now!

Ooooo i fogot you still need to paint your pvc:).........lol then you will be ready to fire up!:behindsofa:

very sweet build peppie... from the looks of it, the whole plumbing deal should dissapear in the rockwerk.
unless this was going to be the 2012 sprinkler reef poster child.. in that case, attach leds to it.

I want a picture of the willy jig on your head?? Is that possible? lol

Mojo

I knew as soon as I posted the pic of the jig, that you would be rolling your eyes, and shaking your head.
If in the future it quits spinning due to who knows what. I will plug in some lock line.

Btw, if I were to wear it on my other end, I may be able to squeeze out enough air to make it spin!!!!!!!!! LOL

Thanks Skimmy,
It wont be covered with rock. I do like the idea of a picture of it on a calendar!!
This was a quick throw together to house some corals as a favor for my sons buddy.
LEDs will come later, with the large tank build.

That was what the jig was made for. Watering a lawn. I am not sure if Spinner modded the blue heads or not.

Very nice build Peppie, just wondering did you use Weldon 40 for the 1" joints?

Thanks Guerry,
No I welded the tank with #4. It will be fine. The seams were really clear. There will not be alot of pressure on the seams, it is only 50gal.
#5 would have given a little more soak time, but all I had was #3 and #4. The #3 sets way to fast for me on anything larger than 1/4''
