Eric & Becca's 180 build

Thanks to Dave we got a lot done today. What started out as a simple level the stand project turned into a lot more. First of course we leveled the stand and tank. Then we finished gluing up the sump and slid it inside the stand... barely. It fit but with NO room to spare going in the opening. Then we put the black backgrounds on the tank and man did that change the look of things. With all this done we were able to...

Oh whats this for??? :D

Yep you got it... Thats water going into to tank

Then Becca got busy with setting the rock in Aquascape Version 1.0

And the first FTS of this new nearly breathing monster. wait for it... WAIT FOR IT...

Now none of the plumbing to the sump is done or anything like that but we are going on a recommendation from Adam to fill the tank up to right below the top of the overflows, put in the rock (of course Becca could just put the rock in), set some powerheads and heaters and throw in a cycle jumpstarter and leave for our 10 day camping trip to the San Juan's. When we get back we should be well into the cycle and ready for some plumbing, pumps and LED lights.

Lookin' good you two..... but wait... is that a small leak I see back there behind that bottom piece of Tonga Branch with the tiny Mojano on it.... just to be sure I'd take everything out re-silicone the entire tank, let cure for a few weeks while you re-nuke the rock..... OK, will have to conceed defeat on this tank build 'Race'... NICE job and can't wait to see it in person, have fun up in the Islands its beautiful up there.

Cheers, Todd

The rockscape Version ''1'' looks great!! Now can we see Version "2" so we can compare?
How many lbs did you use? How long did it take to get the water up to the over flows?

Thanks Todd, Kirk and Dave. Todd we do not accept your concession, like the Bush-Gore race this thing isn't over yet. Still to come is the led build and of course we need to plumb this baby. And then there is a little mater of finishing the hood. We look forward to going more rounds with you. Of course Dave your out of this race (since you didn't meet the house modification clause explained during the pre-race meeting, which you would have known about had you attended said meeting).
Ok back the our tank, we estimate there is about 175 pounds of rock in dry weight. As to the water filling... who said anything about it being full yet? It's still working on it. We don't want to sleep with it filling for obvious reasons and we had some tape malfunctions earlier today (think Janet Jackson....and no Todd that doesn't mean another hug...wink wink...jk) and then suffered from a tape shortage, of course only happens when you friggin need it. We are back on track though with new tape and water flowing again. There is only about 3-4 inches more to go. It should be done filling by lights out tonight.

It looks as I am serving at least a 4 week penalty. ( work has ramped up to 6 ten hour days ) I still have the stand face lift to complete. The finish still needs to be applied. There are a few more odds and ends to finish also.
What are you going to do with the other 300lbs of rock you have left? lol
I think Todd is sandbagging. He probably has his windows done. Has his LED build all lit up. He is looking at his finished hood, snickering under his breath while he reviews a back log of pictures he is about ready to post.

The frags opened right up and are looking good. Thanks for help filling out my bare rocks you two. I think the majority of my corals have came from your tanks!!!

Thanks Peppie

What Dave ! You still have room in there for some more coral ??? Then you need to come back up for a visit to help me thin things out a bit.

Becca & Eric, you two have fun up there in the Islands. Just don't get to enamored by all the pretty critters in the tide pools, ya don't need another saltwater tank setup right now... :nono:

Cheers, Todd

Now that you two have had some time to relax and take life slow and smell the roses.

Back to work lol
Any updates?

Roses? who the heck has had time for that....We have FINALLY got everything washed and repacked and put back into storage from the camp trip...and what relaxation with 3 kids...it was go go go, even when we did nothing....freakin kids got it made in the shade. Though it was a fantastic 10 days in paradise.

The view from our camp site as dawn breaks, the mist coming off Dream lake....Paradise

Before we get into the plumbing how about a shot of the tank as it sits today....all cycling and whatnot....mmmm sexy

And now the plumbing, we have been busy creating the master plan, assembling all the bits and pieces that is required to implement "the" plan, and of course re thinking "the" plan.

For all you Pic junkies out there....We present "the" plan

After looking at the room under the tank with the pump in place we have quickly realized there is no room for the plumbing (we all know that is not acceptable),and as Dave can attest the sump is not moving now that the tank has water in it. So we will have to move the pump up onto a shelf so that we can accommodate the plumbing.

A shot of all the bits and pieces, less the conduit, which is waiting patiently in the garage.

What are we plumbing here a house or a tank??

301658525_photobucket_38838_.jpg

We have bulk heads on order and arriving via priority mail by the end of the week. So by the end of the weekend we should have the plumbing dry fitted. Then of course we will have to do a water test....in the house....yikes. If all goes to "plan", we should have water flowing through the system let's say in two weeks....So as you can see we have not been resting on our laurels..or should I say corals..hahaha

Coming together nicely now Eric, so just 2-3 more trips to plumbing dept. and you'll be there or there or...

Cheers, Todd

Actually we have surpassed the "2-3 trips", and that's not taking into account the running around looking for sch 40 bulk heads. Thanks Todd

:nono: You misunderstood, I meant just 2-3 More trips and you'll be there :der:

Cheers, Todd

Save yourself the extra 2 trips and just buy 3 of every thing.
Oh yea while you are there pick up a large shop vac. I know you already have one. But if you spring more than one leak it is nice to have a back up plan.LOL
I still say blow out the wall behind the tank and build a pump house back there.
I am not surprised to see you were prepared for the expected updates on your return.
It seems reasonable to have flow in two week. What about your lights? T-5 temperately until the leds are ready?

Your camps site view is spectacular, I'm sure it will be missed. Did the kids have Smores? Did you tell them scary stories by the campfire? Did you take them snipe hunting?

Dave dave dave, what campfire would be complete without smores...and we even sprung for the giant size marshmallows....the kids made a oughy gooey mess, that led to the great licking debate....your name was brought up a few times, followed by gut wrenching screams as they scampered into their sleeping bags..and lastly that third thing is just cruel...shame on you boys

now to address your other recommendations, it appears to us that you are trying to break us financially, please get it through your head and every one else that comes over here "THE PUMP HOUSE ISN'T HAPPENING"!!!!
At this point in time there is no plan for a temp lighting plan...we will be doing an led build in the near future....need to finish that hood first

After our conversation yesterday I got to thinking, Alot of people would like to see. Got any pics?
