not sure.. a lot would depend on the overall dimensions of the canopy and MH reflector. If it fit's than yeah that sounds like good idea.

Thanks alot James Now I need to see if anyone is willing to trade? or buy and I will have to buy another one.
The whole light and bulb and ballast has never been used
and I have one brand new 14K bulb and a 20K also
none of it has ever been used jsut the ballast is built in to a used housing that is it.

You never did give dimensions of the 44 gallon corner tank.

IMO:
If the tank is roughly 22"x22"x22", a single bulb with a good reflector can adequately light that area. A rule of thumb is a one bulb per a 2' square.

If you are worried about 400watts being too much light, go with a 20k bulb. A 400watt XM20K bulb has close to the output of a 250watt XM10k bulb.

If you did go with the 20k 400watt light, no supplements would be necessary. That would help with the over heating. You could place the light 10" or more above the water and run a good fan.

Depending on the canopy you might be hard pressed for space. Depending on the depth I would go with a single 250. and then suppliment with the PC's.

James's idea is good too, if you can work a trade... :)
