Best way to move 72g tank?

I moved some sand once, buying new is easier than cleaning old but if you can't afford that you can rinse it thoroughly, spread it out on a tarp, and blow across it with a fan until it's dry. Worked fine for me.

Best way to move 72g tank?

The best advice I can give is do it slowly, don't rush yourself or you will screw something up or break something. It is going to take a lot of time and work to get everything looking the way you want it again. I moved my 55 several times without any losses. Tim

    I love RF

We won't know for another month but I will let you know then.:)

just a pic of blue tuxedo urchin

That is very cool, I have one too and I love it, every once in a while it will pick up a hermit crab and carry it around the tank for a while. Always something to laugh at. Tim

    I love RF

Hey Gaby, sorry to hear about your difficulties, I guess I should pay attention to things going on around here more often, or stop disappearing for months at a time. I hope all is well now and you have the tube feeding thing figured out. I will have to tell my wife it could be worse, we are...

    Rio Nano Skimmer

Thanks for the heads up, I tried one of the odyssea skimmers, it worked well but is a bit big for a 10 gallon. I think I will try the Rio. Tim

Can you help my gaping Crocea? Picture

Your idea about changing to T-5's is a subject for huge debate among some people here, I have always heard that clams will thrive better under the more intense metal halide lights but I have seen a few clam tanks without them. Unfortunately I don't have any of my own experience but that is what...

    Rio Nano Skimmer

Thanks Niki, According to the feedback left on Marine Depot it gets five stars from all four people who left notes. I suppose that means it works, anybody else? Tim

    Rio Nano Skimmer

I am considering this little skimmer for my 10 gallon tank and was wondering if anyone has had experience with it. The reviews on Marine Depot are encouraging but I would like a little more on. http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=TA2111 Thanks for any input, Tim

it works, it really does work..

Hey I did almost the same thing on my nano and everything suddenly started doing better than before! I'm glad it worked for you too, hope everything is ok. Tim

    Update on the Nano

I like 10 gallon tanks!! It does look better with the MH bulb over it. I have the 96W over my 10 with a 50/50 bulb and have been happy with it but I would love a mh bulb like that some day. Tim

    help overflowing tank

I agree on the mag 7 being too much, I use a mag 9.5 on my 55 and I have to throttle it back. You are just pushing too much water for the overflow to keep up with. Either put in a ball valve and slow down the flow or get a smaller pump. Tim

    Hydor Flo?

If you have a way around their size or are ok with it then they are the best thing for nano-flow. Mine worked perfectly for detritus removal and keeping the junk off the bottom. I just couldn't handle the sight of it in my tank.

    Protein skimmer a necessary?

In spite of everyone saying you "need" a skimmer, keep in mind that there are people that do fine without them. I have a 10 gal that doesn't have a skimmer, but I do lots of water changes. Skimmerwhisperer is right though, you will add work without one. I have a 55 (not setup) but I was running...

    Hydor Flo?

I had a hydor flo in a 10gal for a while, the flow was great, very random, and hydor flo's are cheap. Why do I not still have it? the darn thing was too big for a 10 gallon, I didn't like how it stuck half way across my tank on the end of a MJ 1200. If I had that problem then it would be much...

    Reef Keeping????

I haven't posted here for a while either but I have to get in on this, Mike I was starting to wonder if you had forgotten us. Welcome back, thanks in advance for all the advice you will give once again. Tim

    I am finally going BIG!!

Well I think I have my flow figured out, I will run the Dolphin 2100 for the sump return, the ampmaster for the closed loop (for now), a little giant (1000gph) for the chiller, and a mag 9.5 for the skimmer. After calculating the power consumption I should be able to run everything on one 20A...

    I am finally going BIG!!

That's good to hear.:) I guess I never thought of that, do you think it would cause too much suction if I split the two drains off and did two closed loops? Or would I be better off using a stronger pump and keeping it to one?

    I am finally going BIG!!

What does everyone think about Dolphin pumps? I'm not all that familiar with external pumps yet.

    I am finally going BIG!!

The previous owner was using the Dolphin Ampmaster for the closed loop which was being fed by two 2" pipes down to 1.5" at the pump and then out to two 3/4" seaswirls. I don't quite understand why you would turn 4" of pipe down to 1.5" at the pump output so I have been thinking about running two...
