    tank costs

If you're planning on doing DSB 3"-6" that kind of soaks up some of the depth. I used to have a 220G that was ~29" high with a ~4" sand bed, I am 6' tall and it was no problem getting to the bottom of the tank. BTW "walk arounds" are awesome!:D

WELCOME TO REEF FRONTIERS! IF you're in the Seattle area, get a hold of an IAP rep if your looking for a price on a custom Acrylic tank. The tank would be one thing, the rest ........... $$$$$:eek::eek::D

    Chiller Question?

One piece of advise I have on buying a chiller is that one brand 1/4 hp compared another brand 1/4 hp may not be the same. Quality = longevity and reliability. It holds true in most reef equipment, you get what you pay for.;)

How Long Can you Have LR Out of Water?

I have heard before that sponges will die very quickly when exposed to oxygen:confused: Not sure if I beleive it though:rolleyes:

    Base of coral receding

Sound like a water flow issue;)

    Base of coral receding

That does look like a pretty healthy coral other than possibly a little off color. Possibly a water flow issue? So you say nitrates are at ~3ppm? Is that a relaible test result? I'm no master of reef chemistry but I would start with an increase in water changes and skimmer maintinence. Just...

    mixing salt

From experience i can say tropic marine dissolves VERY fast (to the naked eye) but that does not mean you can get away with no aeriation. Better safe than sorry:rolleyes:

Rock and sand turn brown yellow.

X2 Good advise:) Many people say phyto additives are neccesary but many others have proven otherwise by keeping very beautiful tanks without it. IMO, why spend the money? Good luck!

    Base of coral receding

Possible temp., ph, nutrient, salinity swings? I'd like to see a pic of the whole coral.

    DaCube Jr II Oceanic 30g

One thing I always wondered about that black ABS plumbing (are you listening Tracy;)) they say that it's for sewer and drain only, I thought maybe it wasn't good for our tanks:confused:

    My New Fish

I always thought "cherub" was such a fitting name for this fish. Cute name for a cute fish;) Good luck with that little guy:)

    Micro Bubbles from closed loop

If you had less than 500 gph going throgh the loc line I would say it's not the cause. But it sounds like you have way more flow going through it, I would start with the unsubmerged loc line before ripping it all apart. Good luck Kris:D

    Who's adding C-Balance?

Let me adjust my previous statment Low phosphate, low nitrates = good coraline growth Very low phosphate, low Nitrates = moderate coraline growth Very low phosphate, very low Nitrates = Very slow coraline growth I agree that phosphates will inhibit coraline growth but I can't agree that...

    Getting out or downsizing...

The fish list you have would be fine in a 50g as long as you had suficient skimming. The tang will put out the most waste but he is a vital part of your algae removal, so that's kind of a "catch 22". Some folks on here might say a Yellow Tang will get too big for a 50g which is very true but...

    Who's adding C-Balance?

Low phosphate, low nitrates = good coraline growth Zero phosphate, low Nitrates = moderate coraline growth Zero phosphate, zero Nitrates = Very slow coraline growth A large contributing factor is also what spectrum and how intense your lighting is. Low kelvin high intesity lighting will not...

    Who's adding C-Balance?

2 part calcium suppliments in sufficient amounts will definately grow lush coraline. One factor that many people overlook with coraline is the fact that it is an algae, and algae needs nutrients (phosphate and nitrates) to grow. If your system has recently been stripped of nutrients because of...
