    Does anyone drink RO/DI water?

Chris - I work in the TV industry and we too use ro/di water as a coolant for our transmitters, which probably generate about the same heat index as your subs did. The water is treated with an anti-corrosive chemical though which is the part that makes it bad. If I remember correctly, it's the...

Happy B-day Kev, thanks for all you've done to promote the hobby...especially for us newbies who continue to have no clue what we've gotten ourselves into.

    Sunday eye candy

OK Charlie...it's a deal...maybe even a bottle of Jose' in it for you as well. We have a funny way of meeting up @ Kevin's shop the last 2 times you were here, so it shouldn't be a problem.

    what do I need? plumbing...

I'm guessing that the new tank isn't drilled so that would mean a HOB overflow. I would get flex pvc from either HD or Lowes with some stainless or plastic hose clamps. You only NEED a sump light if you plan on using patr of it for a refugium...whether or not you need a bigger heater will...

    Are these snail eggs?!?

yep...that's what they are. Can't remember which kind lays them like that...but while at the LFS last week, they had some just like that.

    What's worth it in a magnet-algae-scraper?

unless you have a huge tank...I would go with the mag float. just bought one myself from a local store for 28.00. Another store in town was selling the same one for 46.00 so shop around a little.

    clowns fighting???

you should make sure they are not the same size...they can fight to the death...if you notice that all they do is fight, I would remove one and possibly look for either another reefer or LFS to trade it out with. Good Luck

    Dead heads on candycane

Sorry for not updating my progress with the cane here...but here's what happened: about 2 days after my frantic post as to why some of the heads on one side were shriveled and hard resembling more of a skeletal appearance than polyp...they all came back to life but were relatively small...

    Cabinetry pics

Fellow Reefers: I'm in the planning stages of a custom built stand/canopy combo and would love to see pictures of your masterpieces for a little inspiration. Bigger tanks would be better as I have a 72" 150g. All pictures and opinions/advice are greatly appreciated!:p

Hang On vs In Sump Skimmer

I also agree...and look at it this way...if you are using part of your sump as a 'fuge...you are trying to improve the water quality there...so it makes sense to skim before then. I'd also like to see how you can plumb the skimmer into the overflow piping??

Reddish brown algea on my substrate

I would think it depends on what the "green" actually is. I had to re-do some rockwork while retreiving a dead fish...since my tank isn't FULLY cycled yet (only 5 1/2 months) this caused or assisted in every rock I moved getting covered in "turf" algae. I also had the red slime...which I can...

    Huge Bummer!!

Bummer Update Well....the sebae didn't make it. After talking to someone with LOTS of anemone experience, I don't think I had enough "free room" on the sandbed for him. Just as I was told, he went downhill VERY quickly.:( Also I no longer think it was the powerhead...but a chance encounter...

    Huge Bummer!!

:( Apparently late last night our anemone got sucked into a powerhead. One side of him is pretty mangled and "gooey" looking for lack of a better term. It appears he was able to free himself...and then fell on to our torch coral...who lives under the powerhead. The torch "looks like" he'll...
