Thanks Krish...I didn't want the pumps to be a distraction when viewing.

I had a quick question...The pump that is mounted in the rock, is the back of that pump pretty much exposed? That thought just ran across my mind because if the pump was predominently covered by the rock and way up in there, then I would imagine it would have a hard time pulling in water to function properly due to restrictions which could potentially lead to the pump possibly running hot due to being "suffocted" for lack of a better word. :)

Great question Krish !

The Tunze Rock is specifically made for a Tunze pump. It actually has a large opening in the rear and some on the sides. I'll post a pic later today.

Nice!! I have heard of those Tunze rocks, but didn't even realize that's what this was. Thought you made this thing up yourself. :)

I still use a Canon T1i would love to get the T3i. Awesome cameras for the price :) Thanks i took it down awhile back just got a 40 gallon breeder now, setting up my 90 gallon soon though.

Thanks for the heads up on the sea swirl Krish. I'll keep that in mind. Did drilling it help a lot?

Sorry to jack your thread Jim!

Yes, it did. The thing is designed with no provisions to be used on a return pump in mind. I almost overflowed my sump till I realized there was no siphon break and had to plug that puppy back in. I was in a state of panic so I created a thread that Chuck helped me with. Where you have to drill is pretty thick and you have to make sure you drill deep enough to get to the inner part. Here is the thread with a few pics in it :)

Sweet Jim!
I am seriously considering the sea swirl for my new build. It may be just the thing needed for my return problem.
The only problem I am seeing in it's design for my build is how deep it sits in the tank. I need mine to be almost at surface level for less draw back during a power outage.
Being I never had one before, is that return nozzle adjustable?

Hi Frankie,

Sorry I didn't see your question about the sea swirls. Krish pretty much answer your questions. Since you are handy, can you build a acrylic platform for the sea swirl ? That way you won't have to worry about the return nozzle being to low into the tank. The nozzles aren't adjustable, but I've seen folks who attach a Loc line w/a flair nozzle for better flow.

Here's a pic of two 1" sea swirls on my frag tank.

Thanks Krish!

Good idea Jim, I guess I can mod the heck out of it or build a platform as your suggesting.

I am pretty sure DonW also built one of these in a DIY project. I'll need to go digging before I make a decision. The more I think about it the more I am liking the idea of this unit though!

That's a cool idea Jim! I need to forward this to Rhodes, he is looking for abetter method of flow for his system.

THanks for the picture! I think I may hunt one down and see if it is what I am looking for.
