Well I did it!! Removed 9 of the optics from the center of my LED unit. It still works-lol. I'm so hoping this will eliminate the hot spot.

I thought the optics helped defuse led light?
I may be wrong. I am more than not. lol

I thought that the bare led bulb was like a spot light and shined pretty much straight down, like a flash light. The 90 degree optics would give a spread that spread the light over a 90 degree area and the 120 degree optics would open that up even more, which would make less light available straight down?

Nope. It's the optics that focus the light and magnify its intensity. The smaller the optic the wider the spread and the closer to normal intensity. No optics and they all just blend together. At least this is what I'm being told by those who know more than me

Well I'm depressed. My Bi-colored Blenny must go. First he's practically destroyed my Mystic Sunset Monti and now he's started in on 2 frags of my X-Mas Favia. I'm hoping I can save the Monti, no chance of me getting another.
I'm totally bummed

New additions today. Cleaner Shrimp and a Hawaiian Featherduster.

Well the Feather Duster didn't last two days. Shrimp is doing great. Woke this morning to my Mayan Sun Favia almost a complete skeleton. No idea what happened.

Yeah, it was growing so well too. I think what happened is my Conch may have pushed it into my Fungia. Didn't know that plates possess quite the sting ?

Well until I get up the courage to remove my Bi-Colored Blenny ( My poor Sunset Monti has been jailed. He doesn't bother my Idaho Grape at all. He killed my Mystic Sunset Monti and is now going after this one.

Ticks me off but good! Monti's been in my tank for a week. Today he decides to munch on it. Same with the Mystic Sunset Monti. No idea what triggers him. I keep procrastinating his removal. Never had to choose between a fish and a coral before

if you just move him to the sump, it will be less of a 'choice'....
