    Nitric Acid

Mike, you're headed right down the same line of thoughts that I was: what's the point? But, since someone is coming up with questions, I felt I should try and find some answers (and NO! not because of who was doing the asking!). He said he has used nitric acid to quick-cure DIY live rock...

    Nitric Acid

Hello, you Helpful Expert Types! (Unabashed sucking up in hopes of getting help. ) I am in a discussion in another forum about impurities in pulverized limestone used as substrate. Someone has suggested that nitric acid could be used to remove any metal impurities from limestone. What...

cirolanid Isopod, show me pictures please.

I'm still considering reintroducing some, just to follow through with that expirament: Was it just my little swimmers, or would they like to sample a really big fish?

    Reef Epoxy?

I like Aquamend putty for attaching frags to smaller rocks, and then smaller rocks to bigger rocks. You can always break them off later. Aquamend cures underwater, and is used on swimming pools and the like. I got mine at a fish store, but you might even find it at a hardware store. GL,

cirolanid Isopod, show me pictures please.

I had a severe panic attack shortly after adding forty more pounds of live rock when I found a cirolanid attached to my female clownfish one afternoon. Yes, it was in the afternoon, in broad tanklight. I netted the fish and, after an unsuccessful FW dip, removed the isopod with a pair of...

    Field Trip

You have great suggestions here, Mike. I'm glad you're looking forward to it, and I hope you, your friend, and the rest of your guests have a very good time with this. Kudos to you both for taking it on!

    Dipping Zoos..and corals.

I have never used tetracycline, but have had great success with iodine dips on corals.

    Nano Help

I would recommend against the watchman goby. You'll run into trouble with polution issues as it becomes fully grown. That is also a very, very small space for a fish that grows to three inches. Consider a clown goby. They are perchers instead of swimmers, and stay very small. Also, three or...

What kind of fish is this???

Plectroglyphidodon is another genus of damselfish.

pyrimid snail's or clam eating snails

The pyramellids are prey specific. If yours are preying on your astrea snails, they are highly unlikely to jump over to your clams. You should be able to starve them out once the astreas are gone. You could also go the route of manual removal, but that could prove to be a real PIA. There are...

What kind of fish is this???

http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/speciesSummary.php?ID=12450&genusname=Chrysiptera&speciesname=springeri http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/speciesSummary.php?ID=12449&genusname=Chrysiptera&speciesname=sinclairi I'll take a stab at it. The Springer's are said to geographical color variations, so...

    Speed-swimming worm?

I would agree with the sexual bristleworm ID (epitoke). I can't believe you caught that thing! I saw one once in my tank and it was so dang fast, zipping around like it was on crack!

    copepods

You should be able to see them. Look for tiny dots crawling on your glass. BTW, isn't caulerpa illegal in CA? Try to get your hands on some chaetomorpha and freeze that caulerpa before wrapping it in plastic and throwing it away.
