Okay I checked my parameters: ammomia 0, trite 0, trate 10 (did a water change), calcium 420, alk 8, mag 1400. So I moved all the corals into the new tank! Man they were really crowded in the 20 and now it looks like i have nothing in the tank . Time to go coral shopping . Of course I am still fine tuning the skimmer, finckly the etss skimmer is!
This is a awesome yuma, it is only the size of a dime. I sold a whole rock of these about a year ago and found this on the back side of rock when I cleaned out the 20 gallon.
Thanks for the replies all! Everything is going good so far. I still am trying to fine tune the skimmer. I am just getting skimmate the color of light tea and the foam is wetter then I like.......I'll keep working on it!
I have an etss 500. this one http://www.superskimmer.com/etss_evolution_500.htm
I am running it with a mag 9(came with it)and they say a mag 12 on the web site although I remember when i bought it 9 months ago they reccommended a mag 9 for 90 gallons or less.
any suggestions on how i can fine tune it better??
after consulting mark, i put a valve on mine to control the air ( you will get finer bubbles with less air) and i put a high pressure pump on and the difference is night and day. maybe the skimmerwhisperer can elaborate a little more
Okay this what's up. I have an evolution 500 skimmer powered by a Mag 9. My problem is my skimmate is a light tea color (see photo in post above). I have noticed the bubbles in my foam contain a lot of large bubbles. I have added an air valve to the top air intake to regulate air but to no avail . I included some pics that might help.
i am no expert, but i think the idea is to have a high pressure pump versus ahigh volume pump. the high pressure will cause more turbulance in the skimmer hence more foam. ...... i think
